Cooling - Intelligent Eco Modes

Better protected More efficient

Emergency fans come on automatically Automatically turns off cooling unit and
during power failure & when humidity uses fan-only ventilation to save energy
drops too low. when conditions* permit.

Automatically detects when outside air is

too hot and turns cooling unit back on. *Load ≤ 1.2kW and outside air isn’t too hot

Control and Monitoring
Touchscreen Display
• Touchscreen display(7”) with onboard computer does
all the monitoring and required controls of all the
intelligent subsystems.
• Displays alerts and alarms.
• The monitoring system provides three types of
outbound communication.
1. SNMP
2. EcoStruxure
3. MODBUS – RTU(Future)
4. MODBUS – TCP(Future)
• Remote monitoring with Web UI of HMI
• Read and write features available.
• Service ports located in the front of the display enables

service engineers to take logs and necessary patching
Local & Remote Monitoring
# Local Monitoring :
• Alarm Beacon- Visual flashing light and Hooter
sound in case of threshold crossing of environmental
monitoring sensors(Future upgrade)
• Front Display (HMI): Visual display of alarms/alerts.

# Remote Monitoring :
• With Web-UI of HMI
• With EcoStruxure
o EcoStruxure connection through HMI to EIT gateway.
o 1 IP for 1 MDC
o Central dashboard / monitoring
o Alerts mechanism remote on Phone, Tab, desktop, laptop etc.
• EcoStruxure IT Expert as an optional offer and
EcoStruxure Asset Advisor as future enhancement

Emergency Free Cooling (EFC)
•Front EFC is made of 2 fans which is mounted on the
bottom part of the front door with a filter in front.
•Front EFC pulls in ambient air in the room to the
front /cold plenum of the rack supplying fresh air to the

Intelligent Economizer Cooling modes

1. During the utility power failure, the active cooling unit stops working until the power is restored by standby
generator (<45sec).
• EFC comes on during this period and continue to provide airflow so that rise of temperature is not rapid.
2. Maintain Humidity: Since the cooling is closed loop, if the doors are not opened for longer time humidity inside
the rack will drop due to condensation.
• In this scenario the cooling logic will detect the low humidity and start EFC in tandem with Active Cooling
to restore the humidity from ambient air.
3. Low load condition <= 1 kW.
• During low load condition the cooling logic will check two parameters and switch off Active Cooling and
run EFC. This protects the cooling units from cycling and saves energy.
4. When the ambient air is hotter than the desired temperature…
• In this scenario the cooling logic will detect the rise of temperature and turn on the cooling unit.

Environmental Monitoring and Alert
• Time tested NetBotz is at the heart of this.
• One Temperature and Humidity combo sensor at the
NetBotz NBRK0250 front side of the rack
• Light beacon mounted on the rack to callout any
alerts.
• One Temperature sensor at the rear side of the rack

What to look for in an opportunity
First round questions to ask…

1. Where is this solution going?

‒ Commercial indoor space?
‒ In unsecured area?
‒ Mild temp & humidity variances?

= =
‒ Is active cooling required?
‒ Potential power fluctuations?
yes
2. Is the IT load less than 3.5kW?

3. Is this opportunity in Greater India, South

America, East Asia, Pacific, Africa or Middle
East regions?
