• The one of the selective hotels in calapan selected is the Filipiñiana Hotel and after an interview,
The researcher discovered that their problem with the tools and equipment is when they are
either broken or have become obsolete, but as they utilize the tools and equipment on everyday
work it can be worn out so thats why they must maintain it after every use, and even so
sometimes the tools and equipment is just so worn out that it can’t be help but be broken so they
have no choice but to replace it with a new one.

Research Locale
• The study was conducted in
Filiñiana Hotel Convention Center
and Mahalta Resort and Convention
Center, The researchers respondents
are Hotel Staffs and Supervisors of
the Selected Hotel of Calapan City.
The study evaluated the selected
hotels housekeeping tools and
equipment utilization.

Theoretical Framework
• It is the process of continual improvement based on simple things like
team work, personal discipline, good morale, quality forums and
suggestions. It is a plea for good housekeeping. Kaizen is best
implemented in organizations if it follows a top down approach.
Kaizen is a great way to bring about small changes slowly, painlessly
and eventually achieve superior quality of service and products. If you
decide to adopt Kaizen, spend time on the floor, talking to staff and
get an idea on how time, effort and resources are being utilized. Keep
an eye for good practices and encourage staff for ideas to improve.

Theoretical Framework
• As defined by Seeley, maintenance is "work undertaken in order to
maintain the utility and value of a building and to keep, restore, or
improve every component of a building, as well as its surroundings
and services. Maintenance is defined as the combination of all
technical and administration actions, including supervision actions,
intended to retain an item in, or restore it to a state in which it can
perform a required function. "The effort in connection with various
technical and administrative actions to keep a physical asset, or
restore it to a condition where it can perform a required function," is
how maintenance is defined. Ghazi, KM, (2016).
Chapter 1 of the Research
Theoretical Framework
• Lind and Muyingo defined maintenance as "restoring to or
maintaining to a state in which an item is capable of performing an
initially specified function and any actions directed at this are
maintenance activities". In a similar vein, maintenance is defined as
"an activity necessary for retaining or restoring a piece of equipment,
machine, or system to the specified operable condition to attain its
maximum useful life" in the engineering section of the Business
Dictionary (2016). It covers both preventive and corrective
maintenance.

Research Paradigm
Figure 1.
Hypothesized relationship of variables.
The research paradigm shows the
independent and dependent variable of
the study. It comprises two sets of
variables. The independent variable
contains the extent of challenges in
Utilizing Housekeeping Tools and
Equipment terms of Tools and
Equipment. Meanwhile, the dependent
variable is the Hotel’s Staff Behavior was
measured using Oral Interviews and
local information.

Research Question
This study aims to answer these specific questions:
1. What is the extent of Housekeeping Tools and Equipment Utilization in Selective
Hotel in terms of:
a. Tools
b. Equipments
c. Maintenance
2. Is there a relationship between Housekeeping Tools and Equipment Utilization in
Selective Hotel and Hotels Staff Behavior?
3. Based on the findings of this study, what intervention plan will be proposed?
4.Based on the result of the study, what Continuous Improvement Plan may be
proposed as part of the Best Practices of the hotel?

Statement of Assumptions
• The objective of this paper is to present a systematic review of the literature in the field to
identify problems, recommended practices, unresolved issues and explore occupational needs
related to cleaning problems. Selected for review were published and unpublished reports
dealing with musculoskeletal disorders among cleaners. English language summaries of other
language articles were also included. The factor mentioned most often is that cleaning is
associated with high physical and psychosocial workloads.
Chapter 2 of the Research
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES
• Workers performing cleaning duties experience higher injury rates, especially in the form of
musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), than other industries. It is essential to understand the
inherent risks associated with the nature of this occupation. Based on the Balance Theory
(Smith & Carayon-Sainfort, 1989), this review surveys the current literature, especially those
published since the previous review paper (Kumar & Kumar, 2008), and identifies which
elements contributing to MSD risks were examined: task, technology, organization,
environment, individual, and their interactions. Thirty-nine research papers published
between 2005 and 2021 are identified and summarized. Among these papers, task and
individual elements received the most attention, at 42 and 34 occurrences, respectively. The
interaction elements of technology-organization, technology-environment, and organization-
environment received less than three mentions. The goal of this literature review is to
update the knowledge base and identify current trends for the cleaning occupation. Possible
interventions for risk reduction and future research directions are suggested.

Purpose of the Study
• The Purpose of the Study is to know how the hotels of Calapan City
maintain and utilize their housekeeping tools and equipment while
also taking into account the hotel staff behavior and their physical
conditions.

Research Design
This study used a descriptive correlational research design that aims to obtain information
to systematically describe a phenomenon, situation, or population. More specifically, it helps
answer the what, when, where, and how questions regarding the research problem, rather
than the why. The goal of this study is to incorporate the Housekeeping Tools and Equipment
Utilization in Selective Hotel in Calapan City.
Qualitative research is a type of research that aims to gather and analyze non-numerical
data in order to gain an understanding of individuals' social reality, including understanding
their attitudes, beliefs, and motivation. It also involves asking participants about their
experiences of things that happen in their lives. It enables researchers to obtain insights into
what it feels like to be another person and to understand the world as another experiences it.
In this research, it will be used to describe the extent of the Housekeeping Tools and
Equipment Utilization in Selective Hotel in Calapan City.

Methods
• The method used in this study is interviewing method, Interview is
generally a qualitative research technique that involves asking open-
ended questions to converse with respondents and collect elicit data
about a subject.
• Case Studies are also used, In which the researcher explores in depth
a program, event, activity, process, or one or more individuals. The
case(s) are bound by time and activity, and researchers collect
detailed information using a variety of data collection procedures
over a sustained period of time.

Statistical Data Analysis Procedure
The process of qualitative data analysis includes six steps:
• Define your research question.
• Prepare the data.
• Choose the method of qualitative analysis.
• Code the data.
• Identify themes, patterns, and relationships.
• Findings conclusion and recommendation.
