SOLVING
QUADRATIC
INEQUALTIES

QUADRATIC INEQUALITIES
× Like equations have different forms, inequalities also exist
in different forms; quadratic inequality is one of them.
× A quadratic inequality is an equation of second
degree that uses an inequality sign instead of an
equal sign.
× The solutions to quadratic inequality always give the
two roots. The nature of the roots may differ and can be
determined by discriminant (b2 – 4ac).
QUADRATIC INEQUALITIES
× The general forms of the quadratic inequalities are:
ax2 + bx + c < 0
ax2 + bx + c ≤ 0
ax2 + bx + c > 0
ax2 + bx + c ≥ 0

× Examples of quadratic inequalities are:

x2 – 6x – 16 ≤ 0, 2x2 – 11x + 12 > 0, x2 + 4 > 0, x2 – 3x + 2 ≤ 0
etc.
