 Animation, VFX, Gaming and Comic (AVGC) are
continually booming in India, with one of the highest
growth rates in the world. The AVGC industry has
witnessed unprecedented growth rates in recent times. It
has seen the entry of many global majors who have
tapped into India’s talent pool for offshore delivery of

 In this year’s Budget, Finance Minister Nirmala

Sitharaman announced an Animation, Visual Effects,
Gaming and Comic (AVGC) promotion task force that
will look at ways to build domestic capacity and serve
the global demand in Animation, Visual Effects,
Gaming and Comic (AVGC)sector.
 CAREER OPPORTUNITIES IN AVGC
The Ministry said that the AVGC Promotion Task Force will help India achieve its potential of
capturing 5 percent of the global $40 billion market share by 2025, with an annual growth of
around 25-30 per cent, and creating over 1,60,000 new jobs annually. One of the fastest expanding
divisions of the entertainment industry is animation and visual effects. In addition, the number of
professionals entering the field is increasing. In reality, the AVGC industry has roughly 26,000
occupations that require a doctorate or above (around 38 per cent of the total workforce in the
sector). In the next ten years, the AVGC industry is expected to require 24,000 professionals with a
Bachelor's degree or more, while roughly 16,000 students will graduate from recognized degree-
awarding colleges.
