Methods of sterilization in water treatment

-Addition of chlorine (chlorination 加氯處理 )

-Addition of ozone (ozonation 加臭氧處理 )
-Ultra-violet light ( 紫外線 )
-Boiling ( 沸騰 )
-Addition of chlorine ( 加氯處理 )

Water chlorination is the process of adding chlorine or

chlorine compounds such as sodium hypochlorite to
water. This method is used to kill bacteria, viruses and
other microbes in water. In particular, chlorination is used
to prevent the spread of waterborne diseases such as
cholera, dysentery, and typhoid.

-Addition of ozone ( 加臭氧處理 )

The gaseous ozone is first passed through the desired

alkene solution in either methanol or dichloromethane. The
first intermediate product is an ozonide molecule which is
then further reduced to carbonyl products. This results in the
breaking of the Carbon-Carbon double bond and is replaced
by a Carbon-Oxygen double bond instead.

-Ultra-violet light( 紫外線 )

During the UV water disinfection process, as water passes through a

UV water treatment system, living organisms in water are exposed to
UV light which attacks the genetic code of the microorganism and
rearranges the DNA /RNA, eliminating the microorganism's ability to
function and reproduce.

-Boiling
Boiling water kills or inactivates viruses, bacteria, protozoa and
other pathogens by using heat to damage structural components
and disrupt essential life processes (e.g. denature proteins).
