 History
 In 1998, Wei Dai Published a Description of “B-
Money”, an anonymous, distributed electronica
cash system.
 Nick Szabo created "bit gold" Like bit-coin and
other crypto currencies.
 The first crypto-currency to capture the public
imagination was Bit-coin, which was launched
in 2009 by an individual or group known under
the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto
 Features of cryptocurrency
• It has a limit to how many units can exist, such
that bitcoin has 21 million limits.
• It performs easy verification of transfer of funds
with the help of hashing algorithms that verify
each transaction.
• It is independent of any central authority or a
bank.
• The new units can only be added after certain
conditions are met
