Conic Section
 Conic sections are the curves obtained by the
intersection of a right circular cone by a plane at
different angles

Eccentricity

 The fixed point is known as focus and the fixed straight


line the directrix.

 The ratio between distance from the focus to distance


from the directrix is known as eccentricity

Ellipse
 An ellipse is defined as a plane curve which is the locus of a point
moving in such a way that the sum of its distance from two fixed
points in the plane always a constant.

 if e < 1, then it is called as ellipse.

Parabola
 Parabola is defined as a plane curve which is the locus of a point
moving in such a way that its distance from a fixed point, the focus, is
always equal to its distance from a fixed straight line, the directrix.

 if e=1, then it is called as Parabola.

Hyperbola
 Hyperbola is defined as a plane curve which is the locus of a
point moving in such a way that the difference between its
distance from the two fixed points called foci, is a constant.

 If e>1, then it is called Hyperbola.
