Effect of
Temperature
Three States of Matter

Solid Liquid Gas

Matter can change its state

because of changes in temperature.

Melting and Freezing are the
changes that occur in solids.

matter from
solid to liquid.

Condensation
- the change of
matter from gas
to liquid.
Condensation
Things to remember
• Melting occurs when a solid changes into a liquid after heat
is applied to it.
• Freezing occurs when the particles in a liquid lose energy,
usually due to a drop in temperature.
• Evaporation happens when a liquid is heated. Therefore,
Heat is the main cause of evaporation.
• Condensation is the process by which water vapor (water in
its gas form turns into liquid. It happens when molecules of
water vapor cool and collect together as liquid water.
