ELEMENTS
1. Tone and Mood
Diction, choice of language, and tone convey the speaker's attitude.
Mood relates to the emotional impact on readers.
Example from Keats' 'Ode to a Nightingale.'

2. Sound and Rhythm


Sound evokes auditory imagery, while rhythm is the metrical pattern.
Example from Shakespeare's 'Sonnet 116.‘

3. Theme
Theme is the recurring concept in a poem.
Example from Robert Burns' 'A Red, Red Rose.'
PHYSICAL ELEMENTS
Physical elements include the structure, meter, diction, imagery,rhyme,
and poetic devices.

1.Structure
Common structural components: Stanza, Verse, Canto, Refrain.
Example from Frost's “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening.”

2. Meter
Metrical patterns like Iambic pentameter, Trochaic tetrameter, and more.
Example from Edgar Allan Poe's “The Raven.”

3. Diction
Word choice impacts tone and message.
Example using vivid words like “crimson” to create imagery.
4. Imagery

● Use of vivid language to appeal to the senses.


● Creates sensory experiences for readers.

5. Rhyme and Rhyme Scheme

● Various rhyme types: End Rhyme, Imperfect Rhyme, Internal
