Stopping In The Middle

Of An Ayah
What is an ayah?

An ayah (plural: aayaat) is a "verse" in the Quran that make

up the Surahs of the Quran and are marked by a number.

For example:
How do we stop mid ayah?
Some aayaat may be long and it may be hard for us to read in one breath.
So, when we feel like we are losing our breath, we should stop on a word,
take a breath, then go back 1 or 2 words, and continue.

When we stop on a word, we must look at the last harakaat and stop on it
accordingly.

For example:
- If the word we stop on has a fathah at the end, we will stop on it with
a sukoon.
- If the word we stop on has a round taa at the end, we will stop on it as
a haa saakin.

reading the The daadh

There is no limit to how many times you can stop in an ayah.

Let’s say I lost my breath here as well, then I will stop

again, go back 1-2 words and continue until the end.
