PROPER NAMES
• There are a lot of words in English that have different meanings and,
accordingly, a translation. Most often there are borrowings from other
languages, such as Greek, Latin, French, for example, parliament, theory,
organization, and so on.
• Such words can very often interfere with translation. The only help is when
there is also the same meaning behind the external similarity, for example, a
panorama, a chameleon and the like.
• But being borrowed by another language, such words can acquire new
meanings, so we call them false friends of the translator. These are words that
are similar in spelling and sound in the original language and in the translation
language, but may have different meanings.
