apparatus, ventilatory system) is a
biological system consisting of
specific organs and structures used for
gas exchange in animals and plants
The main parts of respiratory system
The process of breathing

Breathing starts when you inhale

air into your nose or mouth. It
travels down the back of your
throat and into your windpipe,
which is divided into air passages
called broncial tubes
Inhalation and exhalation

Inhalation and exhalation are how

our body brings in oxygen and gets
rid carbon dioxide. The process gets
help from a large dome shaped
muscle under your lungs called the
diaphragm.
The 8 most common types of
respiratory disease

2. COPD
3. Cystic fibrosis
4. Lung cancer
5. Tuberculosis
6. Bronchitis
7. Pneumonia
8. Emphysema
Emphysema
Emphysema, or pulmonary
emphysema, is a
lower respiratory tract disease, [6]

characterised by air-filled spaces (

pneumatoses) in the lungs, that can
vary in size and may be very large.
Signs and symptoms of
Emphysema
Emphysema is a respiratory disease of the lower
respiratory tract. It is commonly caused by tobacco
smoking but a significant number of people are
affected who either do not smoke, or have never
smoked. The presence of emphysema is a clear risk
factor for the development of lung cancer, made
stronger in those who smoke
