configuration,
Considerations which influence airplane layout – aerodynamic,
structural, crash worthiness, manufacturing, maintainability and
environmental considerations.

 What is an aircraft Design??
That aircraft design essentially consists of arriving at layout and
configuration which can address two things.
1. It should meet the customer specifications and the airworthiness
requirements and second,
2. it should be less expensive and easy to produce in large quantities.
 Key Requirements
1. The customer specifications.
2. the forecast of the economic situation in the future.
3. the technological developments that are taking place or have
taken place in the recent past.
4. the airworthiness or the regulatory bodies. (DGCA, FAA,
CEMILAC,JAR)
