Introduction

• The cardiovascular system has many important

functions during exercise, like to deliver oxygen to
the muscles;
• To oxygenate blood bt returning it to the lungs;
• To transport heat from the core to the skin;
• To deliver nutrients and fuel to the active tissues;
• To transport hormones;
.
• Heart rate - the most practical indicator of the heart's work and the
functions of cardiovascular system during exercise. 60 to 80 beats/min –
resting health adults. It increases in direct proportion to exercise
intensity;

• Stroke volume - the amount of blood ejected per beat from left
ventricle, in ml/beat. It increases proportionally with exercise intensity.
50-70ml/beat – resting untrained individuals. 90-110ml/beat - resting
elite athletes. It increases with training because the left ventricle fills
more completely, stretching it further, with the elastic recoil producing a
more forceful contraction. Frank-Starling mechanism;

• Cardiac output - the amount of blood pumped by the heart in 1 minute

measured in L/min. CO=SV x HR. It increases with exercise intensity.
5L/min – at rest. 20-40L/min – during intense exercise;
• Systolic blood pressure - the pressure during contraction of
the heart. 110-140mmHg – healthy individuals at rest.
It increases with exercise and training;

• Diastolic blood pressure - the pressure during relaxation of

the heart. 60-90mmHg – healthy individuals at rest.
It remains relatively unchanged with exercise. An increase of
more than 15 mm Hg as exercise intensity increases can
indicate coronary heart disease and is used as marker for
cessing an exercise tolerance test;

stopwatch
Methods

1. Measure the maximum hand pressure of the subject 3 times

and calculate the average value and then calculate 50% of
that value. This value is the force that the subject has to do
during the experiment;
2. Place the subject in a sitting position. Put the sensors on the
middle finger of the dominant hand and cover it with a cloth
to protect avoid environmental effects, like light and vibration
on results;
Methods

Static load
1. Start the measuring of the indicators with the subject in a
resting state, for 3 minutes;
2. After that, the subject produce 50% of the maximum hand
pressure on the dynamometer for 1 min;
3. The subject rest for 2 min.

Dynamic load
4. Start the measuring of the indicators with the subject in a
resting state, for 3 minutes;
5. After that, the subject produce 50% of the maximum hand
pressure on the dynamometer every second, for 1 min;
6. The subject rest for 2 min.

paātrinājās;

• Visiem studentiem vidējais sistoliskais un diastoliskais spiediens

atpūtas brīdī bija zemāks nekā vidēji optimāli pieņemtais lielums;

• Veicot statisko slodzi sirds un asinsrites sist ēma ir noslogot āka, nek ā
veicot dinamisko slodzi.
