The Binding of Fenrir

A Scandinavian Story
Description
Fenrir, also called Fenrisulfr, is a
monstrous wolf of the Norse
mythology (norwegian or
Scandinavian). He was born
abnormally large and very powerful
he was very intelligent but also evil.
Fenrir was the son of a demoniac god called Loki and also a
giantess, Angerboda. Fenrir’s strength was too strong so the gods
bound him with chains made from cats footsteps, the beard of a
woman, the breath of a fish, etc. When the chain was placed upon
him, he bit off the hand of a god called Tyr.
According to some of the myths, Fenrir will devour the sun,
and in the Ragnarok he will fight against the god Odin (god of
war) and swallow him. Odin’s son Vidarr will avenge his
father. Vidarr then later teared Fenrir’s jaws and killed him.
