Definition of Terms:
1. HAZARD = a condition or phenomenon
that increases the probability of a
loss arising from some danger that
may result in injury or illness.
2. ACCIDENT = any unexpected or
unplanned event that may result in
death, injury, property damage or a
combination of serious effects.
3. DISASTER = unforeseen event that
can be caused by nature or man
made.

How to Poison Proof Your Home
1. Identify the possible poisonous substance in
your home.
2. Look for MSDSs or familiarize yourself on how
this product can cause poisoning.
3. Using & storing household products safely.
 Buy potentially substances in safety containers
& buy only as much as you need.
 Store household products in original container.
 Store these products out of reach of children.
 Have adequate ventilation around any fuel
burning appliances.
 Never mix household products.
 Do not use toxic substances at home.
4. Using medicine safely
 Buy medications with childproof caps.
 Never take meds without label, expiration

date.
 Don’t take meds in front of children or in

the dark
5. Preventing food poisoning
 Carefully examine all your food container.
 Check expiration date.
 Always do HW even before & after.
 Keep food refrigerated below 40.
 Avoid raw meat, seafoods & eggs.
 Keep hot food as hot & cold food as cold.
