INSTINCT
‫جبلت‬
DEFINITION OF INSTINCT
A WAY OF BEHAVING, THINKING, OR FEELING
THAT IS NOT LEARNED : A NATURAL DESIRE
OR TENDENCY THAT MAKES YOU WANT TO
ACT IN A PARTICULAR WAY.
Instinct Means......
aptitude, feeling, sense, sentiment,
talent, tendency.

An example for instinct?

"Many animals fear fire by instinct."
In animals, instincts are inherent tendencies to
engage spontaneously in a particular pattern of
behavior. Examples of this include
•a dog shaking after it gets wet,
•a sea turtle seeking out the ocean after hatching,
or
•a bird migrating before the winter season
Instinct is a feeling that you have that
something is the case, rather than an opinion or
idea based on facts.
Every instinct is an impulse . Whether we shall
call such impulses as blushing, sneezing,
coughing, smiling, or dodging, or keeping time
to music and etc.
INSTINCTS IN PSYCHOLOGY

Instinct, an inborn impulse or motivation to action

typically performed in response to specific external
stimuli.
Today instinct is generally described as a
stereotyped, apparently unlearned, genetically
determined behaviour pattern.
7 BASIC INSTINCTS OF HUMANS
Jaan Panskepp, a neuroscientist identified human beings
are driven by seven ancient instincts, or “primary-
process affective systems,”.
These are seeking, anger, fear, panic-grief, care,
pleasure/lust and play. Interestingly, it is thought
that the most powerful instinct is “seeking”.
