Presentation of the Civil Engineering

career in the National Technological

University
The civil engineering career in the
University Technological National
have fourty five subjects.

The civil engineer is responsible for

solving infrastructure problems for
the production of goods and
services in the country.
THE CIVIL ENGINEER CAN BE DEVELOPED IN THE FOLLOWING
BRANCHES:

 Management and construction engineering

 Structural engineering

 Transport or road engineering

 Hydraulic engineering

 Earthquake Engineering
MANAGEMENT AND CONSTRUCTION
ENGINEERING
Management and construction engineering is a discipline that
focuses on the planning, coordination and execution of
construction projects and infrastructure development. It combines
aspects of civil engineering, project management and
administration to ensure that construction projects are carried out
efficiently, within budget and on time.
This discipline involves applying engineering principles and
techniques to oversee all phases of a construction project, from
conceptualization and design to construction and final delivery.
STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING
This branch is related to the analysis and design of
structures (physical infrastructures) such as bridges,
overpasses, complex platforms for railway lines, offshore
structures such as oil fields, offshore gas fields, among
others.

The civil engineer has to make measurements and

calculations on the pressures and loads that the
structures will have to withstand during their useful life,
their future impacts and how they may be safe for long-
TRANSPORT OR ROAD ENGINEERING
Transport Engineering is responsible for civil works
and projects related to the mobility of people,
goods and vehicles, in a sustainable manner and
harmony. It includes transport structures for streets,
air transport, tunnels, overpasses, railways, among
others. It consists of fields such as transport
planning, pavement engineering and infrastructure
management.
HYDRAULIC ENGINEERING
Hydraulic engineering is the branch of civil engineering that deals
with the design and execution of works related to water, whether
for the use of hydraulic energy, irrigation, purification, canalization
or others, whether for the construction of structures in seas, rivers,
lakes, or similar environments, including, for example, dikes,
dams, canals, ports, docks.

It also involves the development and management of techniques,

facilities and equipment that are designed to preserve and control
this natural resource for human use.
EARTHQUAKE ENGINEERING
It is an engineering field that deals with the analysis
and design of structures to make buildings and civil
infrastructure resistant to large earthquakes. This
engineer studies seismic forces and designs
structures capable of withstanding telluric movements.
It must foresee how its designs will act on unstable
terrain and foresee the consequences of earthquakes.
