need to built in Budapest.

One at the Oath Square – Elisabeth bridge

Second at the Main Customs House – Liberty

Blasting of the bridge

The Elisabeth Bridge was

blown up in the morning
hours of January 18, 1945
by German forces
evacuating Pest.
It is not known why but out
of the four chain chamber
only one exploded in the
southern chain chamber of
the Buda bridgehead.
The possibility of crossing
here was out of circulation
for almost two decades,
January 18, 1945 because this bridge was
restored at the latest.
1945 - 1960

 STEEL STRUCTURE

1962 It was the last of the Danube bridges in Budapest that

was restored.
There has been a lot of debate that is it worth restoring
AUTUMN the old bridgr at the old place, or buil a definettly new
bridge in an another route.

1963 The original pillarrs were used in the new bridge. The
cables were inported from Switzerland.In parallel time
with the construction of the bridge they also built the
SUMMER second metro line that goes next to the bridge.

1964 The bridge got a thorough washing, thein it was painted

white.
