Introduction
Walking is a most common activity done by human beings. While walking energy is generated which wasted in the

form of vibrations to the surface. And this wasted energy can be converted into electricity, using the principle called

piezoelectric effect. Piezoelectric effect is the effect in which mechanical vibrations, pressure or strain applied to

piezoelectric material is converted into electrical form. At this time non-conventional energy is very important and this

system introduces power generation using non-conventional energy which doesn’t need any input to generate

electrical output.

5
Abstract
Power generation and its use is one of the issues. Now-a-days number of power sources are present, non

renewable and renewable, but still we can’t overcome our the power needs are difficult to meet. Among

these h Human population the largest recourse can be used for power generation is one of the resources. In

this project we are doing generation of power by walking or running activity of a human being. Power can

be generated by walking on stairs. The generated power which will be stored and then we can used it for

domestic various purpose. This system can be installed at homes, schools, colleges, where the people move

round the clock. When people walk on the steps or the designed platform, power will be generated by using

the weight of the person. The control mechanism consists of carries piezoelectric sensor, and this

mechanical energy applied on the crystal is converted into electrical energy.

Working
Key concept of working of this system is capturing unused energy from surrounding and system and converting it

into electrical energy. The piezoelectric placed under insulating material like hard rubber and pressure created by

footstep will produce electrical energy. The property of piezoelectric material is to generate electricity when we

apply pressure. It has two axis, mechanical axis and electrical axis. When we apply pressure in mechanical axis, it

generates power in its electrical axis. Piezo means the generation of the electrical polarization of a material as a

response to mechanical strain.

6
In this system, while applying pressure on piezo materials, the generated energy is fed to

rectifier, which converts generated energy by piezo material into dc. The dc voltage at the output

of rectifier will be measured using arduino microcontroller. The microcontroller then displays the

voltage generated on 16*2 LCD screen. Capacitors are used in at the bridge rectifier to store up

some charge and to filter the voltage. The dc voltage is then fed to voltage regulator which

provides regulated voltage. The regulated voltage is then fed to battery to store energy. At the

output of battery a potentiometer is attached to controlled the intensity of lights
