What is MICROWAVES?

+ Microwaves is a type of electromagnetic

waves in the EM spectrum. This wave is in between
radiowaves and infrared. It is the second
electromagnetic wave that has long wavelength and
also low frequency. This type of EM wave is being
used in industry’s today.
USES AND APPLICATION
OF MICROWAVES

+ Microwaves have four importantant

uses today and that are:
+ 1. SATELLITE COMMUNICATION
+ 2. TERRESTRIAL
COMMUNICATION
+ 3. COOKING
+ 4. RADAR
1.SATELLITE
COMMUNICATION

+ Microwaves is used in satellite

communication because it can penetrate the
Earth’s atmosphere. Microwave’s signals Are
transmitted by an antenna To a satellite which
amplifies and retransmits the signals to an
antenna in other parts of the world. This Is how
we communicate Even from afar.
2. TERRESTRIAL
COMMUNICATION
+
+ A cellphone is a Radio transmitter
and receiver that uses microwaves. Cellular
Phones depend On overlapping network Of
cells. Each cells has each tower that
recieves and sends each microwaves signal.
3. COOKING

+ The microwaves in a microwave

oven penetrate and agitate the water
molecules within the food.Thus, they
create molecular friction which produces
heat that will cook the food.
4. RADAR (Radio
Detection and Ranging)

+ Is a detection system used to

determine the range, angle or velocity of
objects. It can be used to detect aircrafts,
ships.
