Entrepreneurship is a crucial for the economic development of a
community, but can flourish only through the active interaction
of the multiple players, large businesses, universities and local
government.

appropriate for the needs of micro-entrepreneurs in rural areas.
Thus new economic activities develop at the community level,
people get secure jobs and products become more affordable.

Basic Support

 Investment in basic support package is starting point of


building a broader and more sophisticated community
support system for entrepreneurship.
 To provide basic level of support in your community, leaders
need to:
 Address any issues related to creating a positive
entrepreneurial climate
 Take stock of current access to appropriate business services
 Create a focus on entrepreneurs, both business and civic
 Provide regular opportunities for networking and mentoring
Advanced Support
 Once the basic elements of a support are in place, a
community can consider a number of advanced activities to
further energize entrepreneurs.
 Leaders providing advanced support typically:
 Link closely to the regional Small Business Development
Centre office
 Ensure that an entrepreneur has access to the appropriate
financial capital beyond that provided by local banking
institutions
 Implement programs that increase local entrepreneurs
awareness of and access to new markets
 Encourage programming that introduces youth to
entrepreneurship

entrepreneurs requires considerate community commitment
and investment
 High performing communities are characterized by:
 Using strategies that offer customized help to the full range of
local entrepreneurs.

 Integrating entrepreneurial opportunities into the core curricula
of educational system
 High-capacity organizations dedicated to supporting
entrepreneurs.
Importance of entrepreneurship

Community development: Entrepreneurship foster a sense of


community among people with common goals and interests,
whether in a single neighborhood or across continents. Their
products and services contribute to the communities social and
economic well-being.
To conclude , experience tells us that the best
intervention to alleviate poverty in rural areas
consists in stimulating an entrepreneurial
ecosystem that empowers the largest possible
portion of the community.
