c-tex colour: online colour monitoring

c-tex colour: roll to roll colour monitoring
…for example…
3 data formats

1. Real time data

2. Colour variance roll maps

3. Roll Segregation
3 data formats: Real time data
Opposite is a snapshot of the operator screen

Highlighted in red are the batch details input

by the user

Highlighted in blue are the colour readings

The next slide will explain the colour

readings in more detail
3 data formats: Real time data

Highlighted in red are the colour data for the left, middle and right sensors compared to a colour target

Colour variance data presented in terms of DE, Dl, Da, Db, DC & DH

Colour variation is also presented visually using a traffic light display:

3 data formats: Real time data

Highlighted in Red are the readings for the centre to side

The left reading shows the difference in colour terms between the middle and left

The right reading shows the difference in colour terms between the middle and right
3 data formats: Real time data

Highlighted in Red is the reading for side to side colour variance

The reading shows the difference in colour terms between the left and right of the fabric
3 data formats: Colour Variance Roll Maps
The Roll Map has been created to give users a visual and spatial representation of colour variance within a
roll or production run

The Roll Map uses the same traffic

light system as the operator interface
The example below shows a roll
which is all GREEN. So this roll is
consistent in colour terms
3 data formats: Colour Variance Roll Maps
The 4 roll maps explained:

To Target: This roll maps show variance of colour compared to a colour target (typically a lab dip or
approved sample)
CSV: This roll map ignores the colour target and shows if there is colour variation between the centre
and sides of the roll.
SSV: This roll map ignores the colour target and shows if there is colour variation between the left and
right sides of the roll.
EEV: This roll map ignores the colour target and uses the first metre of the roll to show if there is
lengthwise colour variation within the roll
Let’s look a few examples:
3 data formats: Colour Variance Roll Maps
Below is a CSV roll map showing colour variation between the centre and sides of the fabric. In this example
we can clearly see colour variation between the centre and sides
NB: the colour target is ignored for this roll map as the centre readings are used as the datum point
3 data formats: Colour Variance Roll Maps
Below is a SSV roll map showing colour variation between the left and right of the fabric. In this example we
can clearly see colour variation of the left compared to the right
NB: the colour target is ignored for this roll map as the left sensor readings are used as the datum point
3 data formats: Colour Variance Roll Maps
Below is an EEV roll map showing lengthwise colour variation. In this example we can clearly see colour
variation from beginning to end of the roll
NB: the colour target is ignored for this roll map as the colour readings from the first metre are used as the
datum point
3 data formats: Segregation Report
Here the magnifying glass has
highlighted the column for shade
grouping.
Rolls are segregated into groups A
& B for this batch
3 data formats: Segregation Report +

This is a colour report that

is exported to Microsoft
Excel
Note here that Shade
Group has sequenced the
rolls rather than making
shade groups. This is
unique to c-tex and can
change how rolls are
sequenced for production
Other formats: A-Frame Segregator

We can also simulate how

a full production batch at
the mill can be de-batched
into small rolls for colour
grouping

Can I use different colour formula? Yes, CIE2000, CMC2:1 and CMC1:1 are available
Can I use different light sources? Yes, D65, TL85, Incandescent, Cool White and more…
Can I view results using different tolerances? Yes this can done for roll maps and segregation
report
What PC is required? iCore 5 with Windows 7 or 10
Can I use a swatch from the start of a batch rather than an approved sample or lab dip? Yes
