GOD’S WORD

LESSON 3
“SO GREAT IS MY VENERATION FOR THE
BIBLE THAT THE EARLIER MY CHILDREN
BEGIN TO READ IT, THE MORE CONFIDENT
WILL BE MY HOPE THAT THEY WILL PROVE
USEFUL CITIZENS TO THEIR COUNTRY AND
RESPECTABLE MEMBERS OF SOCIETY”
-JOHN QUINCY ADAMS
THE BIBLE
Comes from the Latin word biblia, which means
book, and from the Greek word Ta biblia, which
means books.
The Bible is not just a mere collection of different
books but all those books put together by the Fathers
of the church who were inspired by the Holy Spirit to
form a library of books.
DIVISIONS OF THE BIBLE

OLD TESTAMENT

Two major
divisions
NEW TESTAMENT
Testamentum – is a Latin word which
means agreement or covenant. It is an
agreement between God and the people
of Israel and today’s people of God in
Jesus Christ.
OLD TESTAMENT

writings that was first compiled and preserved as the

HAVE DIVIDED THEIR
SCRIPTURES INTO THREE
PARTS:

FOR THE CHRISTIAN BELIEVERS, THE OLD
