Introduction
• General anesthesia brings on a sleep-like state with
• the use of a combination of medicines. The
• medicines, known as anesthetics, are given before
• and during surgery or other medical procedures.
• General anesthesia usually uses a combination of
• intravenous medicines and inhaled gasses. You'll
• feel as though you're asleep. But general
• anesthesia does more than put you to sleep. You
• don't feel pain when you're under general
• anesthesia. This is because your brain doesn't
• respond to pain signals or reflexes.
• An anesthesiologist is a doctor who specializes in
• anesthesia. In many hospitals, an anesthesiologist
• and a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA)
• work together as a team during your procedure.
• While you're under anesthesia, the anesthesia team
• monitors you, watches your body's vital functions,
• manages your breathing and treats pain related to
• the procedure
Aim of the study
• The Research is being conducted to find out the effect
of
• general anesthesia on diabetics, and to take the
necessary
• measures before and after the operation, and to know
the
• complications that may occur in the past, and the type
of
• medication suitable for them. The percentage of high
• diabetes differed according to ages
Abstract • Diabetes mellitus is the commonest endocrine dis
• order encountered in anaesthesia [ 37 , 14 ] . It is
• important , therefore , that all anaesthetists should
• understand the disease and its complications , and
• use a scientifically sound regimen for the peri
• operative management of diabetic patients . There
• are many articles on diabetes and the effects of
• anaesthesia and . surgery ; this review describes
• developments that have occurred in the past
• decade , concentrating mainly on the aetiology of
• diabetes and its complications , and how these may
• affect the anaesthetic management of a diabetic
• patient presenting for surgery . The various
• regimens used in the perioperative management of
• diabetes are outlined , and objective evidence of
• their efficacy discussed
Material and method
• Study design:
• This controlled study was conducted in Al-Shaimaa and
AlFirdous clinics during the periodfrom August 15, 2023 to
• August 21, 2023. In this study, permission was taken from
• the patients to display and answer some questions for the
• purpose of the questionnaire specified by the number of
• samples.
• This study included 20 people with diabetes, their ages
• ranged from Between (4_71) years, the data of diabetes
• mellitus for each sample were different in relation to the
• age and type of anesthetic drug
• Statistical analysis :
• We used Microsoft Excel to calculate the questionnaire, and
