Introduction

• The Vande Bharat Express,


formerly known as Train 18, is an
electric multiple-unit train
operated by Indian Railways.
• This train is Currently Operated
on 14 routes.
• First Vande Bharat Express was
launched in Feb 2019 (New Delhi-
Varanasi)
Manufactured by
• It was designed by RDSO and manufactured
by the Integral Coach Factory (ICF),
located in Chennai.
• Vande Bharat Express design and
specifications has been standardized by
RDSO.
• It was made with low-cost maintenance and
operational optimization in mind.
• The cost of a 16-coach Vande Bharat train is
about ₹115 crore.
• The cost of 8-coach Mini Vande
Bharat(MVB2) train is about ₹70 crore.
Technology used to develop Train

• The Vande Bharat was India’s first attempt


at adaptation of the train set technology.
• The train set configuration, though
complex, is faster, easier to maintain,
consumes less energy, and has greater
flexibility in train operation.
Top Features of this train-

• The train has been provided with bogies having


fully suspended traction motors for 160 kmph
operational speed along with the advanced state-
of-the-art suspension system.
• There are reclining seats in all classes while the
Executive Coaches have the added feature of
180/360-degree rotating seats.
• Every coach is equipped with 32-inch screens
providing Passenger Information and
Infotainment.
• It has Automatic Doors both Inside and Outside
of train.
• Wi-Fi Inside the train
