MAINTENANCE
CULTURE: BUILT TO
LAST
Dr. Lanre Amodu
INTRODUCTION
Success is the heritage of every child of
God. There is no manufacturer who
creates a product with the intention of
failure. God created us to represent Him.
While Success is highly desirable,
achieving it is not as important as
keeping it. With success comes the
responsibility of maintenance. An
unsustainable success will soon be
forgotten.
Scriptural Focus (Matt. 7:24-27)
“Therefore whoever hears these
sayings of Mine, and does them,
I will liken him to a wise man
who built his house on the
rock: and the rain descended,
the floods came, and the winds
blew and beat on that house; and
it did not fall, for it was founded
on the rock.
“But everyone who hears
these sayings of Mine, and
does not do them, will be like
a foolish man who built his
house on the sand: and the
rain descended, the floods
came, and the winds blew
and beat on that house; and
it fell. And great was its fall.”
Major Similarities

1. Each man built a house

2.They both laid a foundation and
completed the house
3.They both faced the same rain, flood and
wind
Major Differences

1. One build on a Rock and the other on

Sand
2.One fell but the other did not
3.The one that fell had a Great Fall!
Take note that Jesus
only mentioned 3
stages
1. Foundation
2. Trial
3. Outcome
Trial separates the:
1. Fake from the original.
2. Good from the bad.
3. Diligent from the lazy.
4. Prepared from the unprepared.
“If you fail under pressure, your strength is
too small.” Proverbs 24:10 (NLT)

“If you fall to pieces in a crisis, there

wasn’t much to you in the first place.”
(TMT)
Dangers of Shortcuts
1. They always look more attractive: “There
is a way that seems right to a man, But its
end is the way of death”. Proverbs 14:12

2. They appear to save time: “Short cuts

make long delays.” ― J.R.R. Tolkien
3. They promise a great future:
“Yesterday's shortcuts are today's
nightmares. The race is quicker when
we're stricter. Keep your eyes on today,
and declare what you may.” ― Mark
O'Brien
4. They appear
smarter: “There are
many shortcuts to
failure, but there are
no shortcuts to true
success.” ― Orrin
Woodward
5. They appear
Cheaper: “Every
shortcut has a price
usually greater than
the reward.”
― Bryant McGill
How to Build to Last
1. Mind your foundation
2. Never compromise standards
3. Stress test
4. Be consistent
5. Make a success the beginning of the next
