The Philippines is a signatory to
main conventions and
international agreements on
Human rights .
The following are the International
Convention the Philippine has signed and
ratified:
 Convention against Torture and Cruel Inhuman or
Degrading Treatment or Punishment
adopted by the General Assembly on 10
December 1984.
 Optional Protocol of the Convention against
Torture
OPCAT was adopted in 2002 and entered into
force in 2006.
 International
Covenant on Civil and Political Rights
was adopted by the United Nations
General Assembly in 1966.

 Second Optional Protocol to the International


Covenant on Civil and Political Rights aiming to
abolition of the death penalty
was adopted by the United Nations
General Assembly in 1989.

 Convention on the Elimination of All forms of


Discrimination against women
Was adopted by the United nations General assembly in
1979.
 InternationalConvention on the Elimination of All
forms of Racial Discrimination
was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on
December 21,1965,and entered into force on January 4, 1969.

 International Covenant on Economic, social and


cultural Rights
was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1966.
 International Convention on the Protection of the
Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their
Families
was adopted by the United Nations 1990
 Convention on the Rights of the Child
was adopted by the United Nations
General Assembly in 1989

 Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of


the Child on the involvement of Children in armed
conflict was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly
in 2000.

 Voluntary recruitment
 Rehabilitation and reintegration
 Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of
child on the sale of children child prostitution and
child pornography
was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2000.

 Convention on the rights of person with Disabilities


was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2006.
 United Nation convention against Transnational
Organized Crime
was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2000.
 Protocolagainst Smuggling of migrants by Land, Sea
and Air , Supplementing the United Nations
Convention against Transnational Organized Crime
was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2000.

 Freedom of association and Protection of the Right to


Organise Convention
was adopted by the International Labour Organization in 1948.
 Protocolto Prevent, suppress and Punish Trafficking
in persons, Especially Women and Children,
supplementing the United Nation Convention against
Transnational Organized Crime Preamble,
supplementing the United Nations Convention against
Transnational Organized Crime
 adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in
2000 and entered into force in 2003.
 Right to Organise and Collective Bargaining
Convention
was adopted by the International Labour Organization
in 1949.

 Convention against Discrimination in education


adopted by the United Nations Educational, Scientific
and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1960.
