This presentation will discuss Google Duplex, an AI-powered

digital assistant that can book appointments and make reservations
for you.

Google Duplex is an AI-powered digital assistant that can

communicate with humans in a natural-sounding voice. It can
understand complex requests and perform tasks such as booking
appointments or making restaurant reservations on your behalf.
The Science behind
Google Duplex Google Assistant gets all information and gives the information
to Google Duplex. Then Google Duplex calls business or
restaurant in background. After calling Google Assistant gets
reservation result from Google Duplex and sends notification to
your phone

How does Google Duplex get information

from human’s speech
Incoming sound is processed through an Automatic Speech
Recognition (ASR) system. This produces text that is analyzed
with context data and other inputs to produce a response text
that is read aloud through the Text-to-Speech (TTS) system.
 There are several challenges in conducting natural
conversations:
Google Duplex try to speak as a human, but our conversation with each other is different from a
conversation with a robot.

So Google Duplex is in trouble

 When people talk to each other, they use more complex sentences than when talking
to computers. They often correct themselves mid-sentence, are more verbose than
necessary, or omit words and rely on context instead

Duplex will only initiate a call after obtaining explicit
consent from the user. During the call, Google Duplex will
inform the other party that it is an AI assistant and that the
call is being recorded.

The company only stores call recordings for a limited time
and allows users to delete them if they choose. Furthermore,
Google Duplex uses encryption to protect user data from
unauthorized access.
