So Why Case
• Lifting Performance that is inline with the competition
– The 590 Super N out performs the competition in both loader lift capacities and bucket
breakout forces
– The 580 Super N Wide Track unit offers outstanding lift capacities in it’s size class once again
defining itself as a unique player in this market

• Reach allows the operator to dump into the center of a truck

– Notice how Case’s pin height is higher than the competition while still maintaining a
comparable reach
– When looking at the lift curve, Case has more reach than the competition at their maximum
hinge pin height

• Digging Depth to create a better loader experience

– Many customers use their loader side to grade or doze. By having a better dig depth than
our previous M Series 3 models and better than some of the competition, Case has created a
machine that will meet all of the customer’s needs and wants.

33
Powershuttle Transmission
 The Powershuttle transmission is the current synchromesh
(powershuttle) transmission.
 The Powershuttle transmission retains the use of the right hand
shifter.
 The Powershuttle transmission is manufactured for Case by Carraro.
 How it works:
 When driving in first gear, if the operator shifts the right hand shifter to
fourth gear, the transmission sequence brings the pressure to the power
clutch to zero. This pressure is then redirected to move the shift rails the
appropriate position (i.e. fourth). Because the Powersuttle uses
synchronizers, there is a momentary delay while shifting. This will be most
noticeable during roading or loading applications.
 There is no Kickdown on the Powershuttle transmission

34
NEW Powershift S-Type Transmission
 The Powershift S-Type transmission is a new synchronized transmission that features
synchronized clutching and shifting.
 There is no auto mode on the Powershift S-Type transmission.
 How it works:
 When driving in first gear, if the operator rotates the shift lever to fourth gear, the transmission
sequence brings the pressure to the power clutch to zero. This pressure is then redirected to move the
shift rails the appropriate position (i.e. fourth). Because the Powershift S-Type uses synchronizers,
there is a momentary delay while shifting. This will be most noticeable during roading or loading
applications.
 The Case Powershift S-type transmission is manufactured by Carraro and includes an electric
controller designed specifically for Case loader/backhoes.
 The hydraulic control valve has digital solenoids for shift rail actuation and proportional
solenoids for forward and reverse clutching.
 There is a kickdown button that allows the customer to shift down to 1st gear for extra pushing
power when going into a pile or for slower speeds when coming up to load a truck. Keep in
mind that the same momentary delay as in shifting will occur when using the kickdown.
 It also features an industry exclusive modulation that allows the operator to choose how soft or
firm the shifting is between forward and reverse.
 For example, an operator might want a softer shift when coming up to a truck for loading, giving them
a smooth transition when backing away. But for a customer that is doing snow removal, they might
want a firm shift when switching from a high reverse speed to forward.
35
Powershift H-Type Transmission
 Same as the traditional full powershift transmission that has been available for M Series 3
loader/backhoes
 The clutching is done in a hydraulic fashion, so it is referred to as the Powershift H-Type
(hydraulic type) transmission.
 The Case Powershift H-Type transmission is manufactured by Carraro.
 How it works in Manual Mode:
 When driving in first gear, if the operator rotates the shift lever to fourth gear, the transmission
microprocessor shifts through the subsequent gears sequentially until fourth gear is reached. This
results in smooth, firm shifts.
 How it works in Automatic Mode:
 The automatic Powershift selection switch is located on the front console
 The transmission with shift through the gears – up and down – from 2nd gear to the highest selected
gear on the shift lever and back to 2nd gear, based on the operators pressure on the throttle.
 There is a kickdown button that allows the customer to shift down to 1st gear for extra
pushing power when going into a pile or for slower speeds when coming up to load a truck.
 It also features an industry exclusive modulation that allows the operator to choose how soft
or firm the shifting is between forward and reverse.
 For example, an operator might want a softer shift when coming up to a truck for loading, giving them
a smooth transition when backing away. But for a customer that is doing snow removal, they might
want a firm shift when switching from a high reverse speed to forward.
