DANCER

Dancers are not just performing

artists; their bodies are also the
instruments through which the art
is created.
Training is important in order to
properly execute movements.
CHOREOGRAPHY

Choreography is the art of making dances,

the gathering and organization of
movement into order and pattern.
The choreographic process may be divided
for analytical purposes (the divisions are
never distinct in practice) into three phases:
gathering together the movement material,
developing movements into dance phrases,
and creating the final structure of the work.
SUBJECT

The point being portrayed by

the choreographed
movements.
MOVEMENTS

Movement usually develops

organically even when the
overall structure of the piece
is imposed by a plot or piece
of music.
TECHNIQUE

It is a way of moving in
which the dancer would not
only perform a step and/or
the whole dance properly but
also move effectively,
avoiding injuries.
COSTUMES

Focuses on the apparel of the

dancer and their makeups.
Simply put, costumes are for
dancers to use for specific
performances to achieve.
PROPERTIES

These are body, action,

space, time and energy.

SET DESIGN

The setting in which the dance was

held is as important as the music
used.
Visual elements such as costume,
makeup, masks, props, lighting,
and stage sets may also amplify
certain qualities of dance
movement.

ELEMENTS OF DANCE
