What is Birth?

Birth is the emergence of a baby or other

young from the body of its mother; the start of
life as a physically separate being.
Types of Birth
• Vaginal Birth
• Natural Birth
• Schedule Cesarean
• Unplanned Cesarean
• Vaginal Birth after Cesarean Section (VBAC)
• Schedule Induction
Vaginal Birth
• A birth in which the child is
pushed out of the mother’s
uterus via the vagina, as opposed
to being delivered surgically.
Natural Birth
Natural childbirth without routine medical
interventions, particularly anesthesia. Natural
childbirth arose in opposition to the techno-medical
model of childbirth that has recently gained
popularity in industrialized.
What is Cesarean?
Is the surgical delivery of a baby through a surgical
cut or incision in a woman's abdomen and uterus. After the
baby is removed from the womb, the uterus and abdomen
are closed with stitches that later dissolve. A baby will need
to be born by caesarean section if there are serious problems
or complications or you've had a previous C-section that
prevent the baby being born by a normal vaginal birth.
Schedule Cesarean
• A scheduled surgery for nonmedical
reasons is called an elective cesarean
delivery, and your doctor may allow
this option. Some women prefer to
delivery by surgery because it give
them more control in deciding when
their baby is born. It can also reduce
some anxiety of waiting for labor to
start.
Unplanned Cesarean
• Unplanned C-sections are emergency
surgeries, which means they are
performed after labor has begun,
when the health of the mother or
child is at risk. This can happen for a
number of reasons. Fetal distress,
which is indicated by a dramatic
change in the baby's heart rate.
Vaginal Birth after Cesarean Section (VBAC)
• VBAC refers to vaginal delivery of a baby after a
previous pregnancy was delivered by cesarean delivery.
In the past, pregnant women who had one cesarean
delivery would automatically have another. But
research shows that, for many women who had prior
cesarean deliveries, attempting to give birth vaginally—
called a trial of labor after cesarean delivery (TOLAC)1—
and VBAC might be safe options in certain situations.
Schedule Induction
• Scheduled Induction is the plan for breaking the water
that is the amniotic sac to let the labor begin. There are
various reasons why health care givers induce labor
instead of waiting for the natural labor process to
begin. This is to mean that scheduled induction is what
is generally referred to as induced labor. Scheduled
Induction is not done just for the sake of it. Do it only
on serious medical condition especially of the mother.
