SECTION LINE

• is a thin line usually drawn


in a 45° angle on a surface
that is touched or cut by a
cutting plane.
• it is use to emphasize that
the object is cut.
SECTION LINE SYMBOLS

• usedto show the kind of material


the object is made of, and it comes
with a different variety to choose
from depending on what the object
is made of or being sectioned.
CAST IRON

• This symbol is added if the material of the


object is not indicated or un-intentionally
don’t know what type of the object is made
of.
• also known as cross hatching lines are added
to a sectioned view or surface that is
imaginarily cut through.
• thin lines usually drawn in a 45°-degree
angle depending on the shape of the surface
or number of joined objects that are cut
through.
CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING IN SECTION
LINE
• section line should be thinner than visible lines or object lines
• section line within a sectioned area must be parallel with the next section line
• always draw section line at 45° to the horizontal.
• uniformly or evenly spaced between line or
distance between lines
• 1 mm DISTANCE
