WHY
ARE THESE SOO
IMPORTANT?
(for the people living near volcanos)

• volcanos release volcanic rocks and ash which

provide fertile land, allowing farmers to have more
crop space to grow crops.
• the lava inside volcanos are known to have priceless
minerals inside like diamonds, allowing people to
mine them and profit off the mining.
• volcanos are big tourist attractions, so there is a big
money increase for those living nearby.
 LETS THE PEOPLE OF
YOGYAKARTA
TAKE FOR EXAMPLE!!
• there are many villages nearby the volcano there
(called gunung merapi/mount merapi) as to take
advantage of the fertile soil and money making
opportunities.
• all villages are at least 7km away as to avoid major mount merapi and one of the many villages nearby, 2018
damage to the village when it erupts, as mount merapi
is an active volcano as of 2023.
• as it is still active, the authorities have made a
restricted zone to all residents and tourists, but have
given a dedicated spot for phototaking to ensure they
still profit off tourism
