Assemble Flowback
• This slide explains how to assemble
the flowback device, a component
that prevents mud from spilling out
of the Autoseal II 200 when it is
removed from the casing.
1. Insert the plunger pin into the ported disk.
2. Slide the flowback spring onto the plunger
shaft.
3. Clean threads of plunger shaft and head;
apply thread lock to these threads.
4. Screw Plunger head onto shaft, use a
bench vice.
5. Secure flowback assembly with bench vice.
6. Use a 1/8” punch and hammer to dent the
plunger at each locking key this will secure
the plunger to the shaft.

Assemble Mud Saver Valve
• This slide explains how to assemble
the mud saver of the AutoSeal II 200.
1. Insert the flowback assembly, plunger first
through the top of the housing until it is fully
seated. Lubricate the OD of the ported disk
first.
2. Lubricate and install the O-ring onto the top
sub. Use EP II grease.
3. Lubricate threads of the top sub and screw
it into the top of the housing.
4. Secure the mud saver housing in a bench
vice and use a chain tong to fully thread
the top sub into the housing.
5. Lubricate and install O-ring onto slider
sleeve.
6. Lubricate Slider sleeve and insert through
the bottom of the housing until it hits the
ridge inside of the housing.
• If the sleeve is hard to insert ( due to
resistance from the O-ring), use a rubber
mallet. ( Do not use too much force )

Attach Spring and Bottom Sub
• This slide explains how to complete
the assembly of the mud saver valve.
1. Insert spring into mud saver housing until it
is fully seated on the Slider Sleeve.
2. Lubricate and install o-ring onto the ported
bottom sub.
3. Lubricate the threads of the bottom sub and
screw it onto the mud saver housing.
4. Use a bench vice and chain tong to tighten
the bottom sub onto the housing.
• Winding the bottom sub onto the housing
requires a reasonable amount of force
because tightening the bottom sub also
compresses the spring.
5. Using a 3mm Allen key wrench, fit and
tighten the 8 set screws on the housing.

Join Components of the Mandrel Assembly

• This slide explains how to join the

following components to form the
mandrel assembly: Packer, Spacer
Can, and Guide Nose.
1. Lubricate and install O-rings for Mandrel,
Packer and Bottom Sub.
2. Slide Packer, metal helmet first, onto
mandrel until it meets the packer helmet.
3. Slide Spacer Can (window first) onto the
mandrel until it meets the packer helmet.
4. Slide Guide Nose onto mandrel until it
contacts spacer can.
5. Use pipe or chain wrench to screw mandrel
bottom sub onto mandrel
6. Lubricate and install 8 set screws
• If the components do not slide on freely,
the use of force is required; a rubber mallet
will be needed to coerce the components
down the length of the mandrel. Take
appropriate measures not to damage the
spacer can if force is needed.

General Description

• As one of many components in the mud

system, the AutoSeal II 200 is a spigot that
either turns on or shuts off mud. When the
mud pumps start the flow of mud, the
AutoSeal II pours mud into the casing
string. When the mud pumps stop, the
AutoSeal II stops the flow, which prevents
mud from spilling onto the rig floor after rig
workers remove it from the casing string.
