eye,

• In humans the pupils of both eyes constrict equally when light is shone
into only one eye

• help assisting in adaptation to various levels of lightness or darkness

greater intensity of light causes the pupil to constrict while lower
intensity causes the pupil to dilate
TYPES OF PUPILLARY LIGHT REFLEX-

• Direct pupillary reflex;

is pupillary response to light that enters the ipsilateral (same) eye

• Consensual pupillary reflex;

is response of a pupil to light that enters the contralateral
(opposite) eye
