1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1Background of Study
This new Society 5.0 paradigm will play a predominant role in creating a happier, satisfied, fulfilled and consequently more
productive society. Society 5.0, also called the super intelligent society, intends to use advanced technology of Industry 4.0 for
enjoyment of humankind, in order to promote an interconnection between people and systems in cyberspace with optimization of
results by artificial intelligence.

The smart city concept has gained considerable popularity, ultimately enabling residents to better meet their housing, transport,
energy and other infrastructure needs, but also as a key strategy to combat poverty and inequality, unemployment and energy
management (Winskowska et al., 2019).

To date, smart city blueprints are only initiated and prepared by city councils such as Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur and Ipoh. Other
smart city blueprints are found at state level (e.g., Selangor and Penang) and regional level (e.g., Iskandar Malaysia and MySmart
Wilayah 2030).

The Smart City conceptually depends on the availability of technology growth, technological infrastructure, and the Internet of
Things (IoT) within countries, regions or cities. It combines IoT devices, software solutions, user interfaces (UI), data gathering
and communication networks in urban settings.
1.2 Problem Statement

 Short Introduction..Introduce the ..smarty city..describe ISSUE in detail..smart city development in Malaysia.
 -How to integrate the society 50 into smart city framemework

 Are we aligning the smart city with society 5.0 goals

 Retrieve input from the community ..crucial to get the feedback from the community ..people factor and the user factor is important
…..

 Over the past few centuries that smart city ideas have resurfaced, the concept had been faced with several criticisms, one of which is
the failure of smart city idea implementation (McCullough, 2020; Shamsi, 2020). Despite these beliefs on smart cities, there is a
unanimous agreement that smart cities are futuristic cities that, after completion, has the capability and the ability to balance the
economy, environment and human social relationship (Albino et al., 2015; Zhuhadar, Thrasher, Marklin & de Pablos, 2017)
1.3 Research Questions/ Research Obejctives

1.4 Research Questions

 RO1: To determine the impacts of the establishment of a

society 5.0 framework smart city to the community.
 RO2: To determine the acceptance of the society on the Smarty
City Framework.
 RO3: To determine the barriers and recommend possible
improvements to minimize the challenges being faced in
acceptance of the society on the Smarty City Framework.
1.5 Scope Of The Study

 This research investigates the influencing role of Society 5.0 integrated framework for
sustainable the Smart City environment technology readiness and acceptance of the society.
 To evaluate the practical application of society 5.0 implementation in smart city framework and
the benefits it offers to the community.
 Propose practical executable framework that smart city practitioners can use as a guideline when
embarking on a smart city project.
1.6 Significance Of The Study

 Malaysia’s first cities to receive 5G technology are Putrajaya and Cyberjaya. Putrajaya,
Cyberjaya, and Kuala Lumpur now have 5G service. Cities of tomorrow require more efficient
infrastructure and environmental protection. The development of smart cities in Malaysia
enhances the quality of life and environment.
1.7 Operational Definition

 Society 5.0 ,Smart City, smart governance, urban planning, and management, Environment ,IOT
2.0 LITERATURE REVIEW
 This chapter explores earlier studies on Society 5.0 & Smart City. To understand the concept and
the variables in this research well, Society 5.0 & smart cities' history and prospects were reviewed.
 SOCIETY 5.0
 On January 22, 2016, the Government of Japan released the 5th Science and Technology Basic
Plan (Cabinet Office 2016a).
 The plan proposes the idea of “Society 5.0,” a vision of a future society guided by scientific and
technological innovation.
 The intention behind this concept is described as follows: “Through an initiative merging the
physical space (real world) and cyberspace by leveraging ICT to its fullest, we are proposing an
ideal form of our future society: a ‘super-smart society’ that will bring wealth to the people.
SMART CITY
 The development of smart cities has gained popularity across the world in the 21st century.
North America has been promoting the top-down governance approach in cooperation with the
corporate ICT sector (Lim, Jalaluddin, Mohd Yusof & Zurinah, 2020b).The development of
smart cities is to uplift cities competitiveness and to prove country commitment to embark on
global agenda, sustainable development goals (SDGs).
 The concept and or the idea of building smart cities is not a new concept to humankind. History
has it that there have been several attempts by man to build cities which have everything, that is,
resourceful, sustainable, environmentally friendly, capable of creating highly skilled
employment opportunities as well as providing the necessary amenities to its occupants at ease
(Albino, Berardi & Dangelico, 2015; Gelmato, 2019; Vidiasova, Kachurina & Cronemberger,
2017).
Society 5.0 Framework/Adoption Model
Smart City Framework

In 2019, the Malaysian federal government launched the Malaysia Smart City Framework (MSCF) and
defined a smart city as one which “uses ICT and technological advancement to address urban issues,
including to improve quality of life, promote economic growth, develop a sustainable and safe
environment and encourage efficient urban management practices” (Ministry of Housing and Local
Government, 2019).

A smart city is linked to some components which are related to a set of aspects of urban life (Lombardi
et al, 2012):
• smart economy: industry • smart people: education
• smart governance: e-democracy
• smart mobility: logistics and infrastructures
• smart environment: efficiency and sustainability
• smart living: security and quality
3.0 RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

 The study employs a mixed-methods approach, including interviews, surveys, and case studies,
to gather data from relevant stakeholders such the community residents in central region of
Malaysia.
 This chapter describes the research methodology for this study. Notably, it explains the research
philosophy, design, population, sampling, unit of analysis, pilot study, data collection procedure,
and data analysis techniques.
Instrument For Research

 SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences): SPSS is a software tool used for statistical analysis of data.

 NVivo: NVivo is a software tool used for qualitative data analysis. NVivo provides tools for organizing, coding, and

analyzing qualitative data, including text, audio, and video files.

 AMOS (Analysis of Moment Structures): AMOS is a software tool used for structural equation modeling (SEM).

AMOS provides tools for creating graphical models, specifying equations, and estimating model parameters.

 Surveys and questionnaires.

 Interviews
Discussion of Analysis

 Apply Inferential Analysis method – to show relationship between multiple variables. Include
correlation, regression and variance analysis.
 The forecast includes methods , which applies to all dependent variables comes first. The
Pearson Correlation Coefficient .
 The Autoregressive (AR) Model will be used to forecast the independent variable.
 The regression model will be used to predict the dependent variables based on how they are
related to the independent variable.
Sampling Process

 Prepare research questionnaires and conduct interviews approximately between 200 participants
targeted.

 Population in Cyberjaya..State the population size

 -Sampling and sample size..target
Summary
 The integration of Society 5.0 is crucial for creating sustainable smart city environments.
 The conceptual framework of Society 5.0 integration for sustainable smart city environments is
based on four interrelated and the Society 5.0 integration for sustainable smart city environment
promotes economic growth.
 Smart cities can leverage emerging technologies to create new economic opportunities, such as
digital platforms, e-commerce, and online services. Smart cities can also attract new businesses
and investment by offering a favorable business environment and quality of life for citizens.

 Based on literature review…conceptual framework will be developed to study the

perceptions/acceptance of community on the current state of the development areas.
