Types With Examples
Adjective:
*Word that describes a noun or pronoun.

*Add something in the meaning of noun or pronoun.


*Also answer the questions like what kind , how much , how many
and which.
*Also describe noun by giving information about an object’s size ,
shape , colour , origin or material.
Examples:
*It is a round table.
*It is a wooden chair.
*Ali is a good boy.
*Salma is a honest teacher.
* Which movie are you watching ?
Types Of Adjective:
All adjectives are not same . They modify noun or pronoun
differently and just like the other parts of speech, there are
different kinds of adjectives . These are given below.
1: Adjective of quality (Descriptive):
*It describe an object by telling us of what quality, of what sort or
in what sate the object is .
Examples:
*Sana is tired.
*He is a good boy.
*I have a black cat.
*Saba is witty.
2: Adjective of number :
*It shows how many persons or things are meant , or
in what order a person or thing stands.
Examples:
*A month has four weeks.
*There are some pictures on the wall.
*Twenty one students failed the exams.
3: Demonstrative Adjective:
*It points out noun or pronoun.
*Come before the words they are referring to.
Examples:
• These flowers are very beautiful.
• This man is very handsome.
• I used to buy this kind of car.

4: Possessive Adjective:
*They show ownership or possession.
*Comes before the noun .
Examples:
*Ali sold his house.
*My dress is beautiful.
5: Distributive Adjective:
*Refers the things or persons separately.
*Refers to specific things out of a group.
Examples:
*Every student will bring fine tomorrow.
*Each boy was given a chocolate.
*Choose the one you like.
6: Interrogative Adjective:
*It ask the questions.
*Always followed by a noun.
Examples:
*Whose book is this?
*Which way shall we go?
*Which movie are you watching?
7: Degrees of adjectives:
*Three degrees of adjectives name as positive, comparative and
superlative.
a)Positive degree:
*Used to describe only a single person, place or thing
Examples:
*She is a beautiful girl.
*It was a memorable trip.
b)Comparative degree:
*Used to describe two persons, places or things.
*Used “than” after the adjective in the comparative degree.
*Add “-er” to transform the word into comparative form or add word
“more”.
Examples:
*This swimming pool is bigger than that one.
*Sumbal is more clever than Ayesha.
c)Superlative degree:
*Used to compare more than two things .
*Word “the” should be added before adjective.
*Used suffix “-est” or word “most”
Examples:
*This is most crucial match of the season.
*Ali is the tallest boy of the class.
