respective Services and Directorate;

USE OF POLICE VEHICLES
•A police vehicle shall not be
used except for authorized
journeys and for police
purposes
•Civilian passenger shall not be
carried in a police vehicle except
in performance of police work

•A passenger shall not be carried in a
manner which conflicts the law or is
unsafe
•Where a police vehicle has radio
equipment fitted in place at the center
seat of the cabs only one passenger
shall be carried in the cab

•The maximum carrying
capacity shall not be
exceeded
•Every passenger shall be
allocated safe and adequate
seating space in accordance
to traffic rules

•When mixed loads, passengers and
miscellaneous stores are carried on
vehicles the stores and loads shall
be firmly secured
•Passengers shall not be permitted
in the loading space when bulk
supplies of petrol are transported
in police vehicles

•Specialized vehicles shall not be
diverted for any reason to general
duties
•A passenger shall not be carried in
the cab of a vehicle which has been
fitted with anti-mine equipment
unless provision has been made for
a passenger seat

•A passenger shall not be carried on
top of the load on a vehicle in
operational areas
•Equipment provided on a police
vehicle for protection against mine
blast e.g. rubber shock pads, sand
bags etc. shall not be removed at
any time.

•The senior ranked officer
travelling on the vehicle shall
personally be held
responsible
•Animals shall not be carried
unless they are secured and
separated
