VEHICLE OPERATORS SAFETY INDUCTION

NOKENG FLUORSPAR MINE PROJECT

As per the applicable Code of Practice and Management Instructions, the following are to be adhered to:

1. All certified competent or licensed vehicle operators are to be appointed in writing before operating a
vehicle on the construction site.
2. Crane, Truck, Motor vehicle and Bus drivers are to be in possession of a valid driver’s license.
3. Before operating any vehicle
i) Read and sign the Risk assessment and or DSTI for that task
ii) Perform a pre – use inspection and complete the appropriate form
4. When driving the vehicle adhere to the site driving rules
5. When reversing the vehicle use a spotter to direct the operator.
6. When the vehicle is unattended ensure that the ignition keys are removed from the ignition switch and
the keys are in the possession of the operator or in a safe place.
(Sleeping in the vehicle does not mean the vehicle is attended)
7. The use of cellular phones and radios are prohibited when operating vehicles
8. Operators of cranes and truck mounted cranes must ensure that:
i) Outrigger pads are used beneath the outrigger feet
ii) Drip trays are placed beneath the crane
9. Refueling of vehicles is performed in accordance with the appropriate procedure.
10. Vehicles with fuel or oil leaks are not permitted on site.
11. Only vehicles bearing a permit are permitted to enter the construction site.
12. Drivers using Group Five vehicles off site must sign the AARTO form.
13. No passengers are allowed to travel in the loading bay of any vehicle.
14. AARTO form to be completed by the driver when using a Group Five vehicle on a public road
15. Repairs to damages caused to vehicles as a result of driver negligence will be paid for by the driver.
