The Shard

⦿The Shard is a skyscraper of offices and
luxury housing in the borough of
Southwark on the south bank of the
Thames. It opened on 5 July 2012.
⦿The Shard was the name given to the
tower following the criticism it had
wiped from English Heritage, who said
that the building would be "a shard of
glass piercing the heart of old London"
⦿This tower, which at the time of its
inauguration is the tallest building
constructed in the United Kingdom and
the European Union, belongs to a Qatari
investment fund and cost 1.8 billion
euros. The architect Renzo Piano is the
author. The cost of an apartment starts
at 45 Million €.
⦿The Shard was opened to the
public on 1st February 2013, two
floors are reserved for paying visits,
thus offering one of the most
beautiful views of the capital.
