Usually offer help by using english we simply
say “can i help you?” actually there are lots of
expressions that we can use to offer help in
english apart from the previous expression,
even we can distinguish between formal and
informal
How to Present "Offering Help"
with Example Sentences The first way is to
use the interrogative form or interrogative
sentence. In this way we can ask what we can
help for others. Here are the forms;
social function
The social function of offering help and
service is to help interpersonal relationships
between individuals with one another.
By offering help to family or friends, it shows
that we care about the people around us.
May I...?
"May" is a formal way of asking or
offering help. e.g. May I help you? (May I
help you?)
Would you like me to...?
This sentence is also a formal expression
of offering help. e.g. Would you like me to
bring your bag? (Do you want me to carry
your bag?)
Can I ...?
This sentence can be used in informal/informal
situations, such as offering help to our friends
or people who are familiar to us or to strangers
who are in an informal situation. e.g. Can I get
a glass of water? (Can I get you a glass of
water?) e.g. Can I help you? (Can I help you?)
Shall I ...?
This sentence is rarely used, but can be used in
formal situations such as at work, at school and
other formal events. e.g. Shall I help you with
your work? (Should I help you with your
work?)
