INTRODUCTION
 This project uses LPG (24.4% propane, 56.4% butane and 17.2% iso-
butane) as a refrigerant in a Vapour Compression Refrigeration
arrangement.
 LPG is cheaper and is environmental friendly. It has no Ozone
depletion potential and no global warming potential.
 Domestic LPG cylinders are available at a pressure of 5 bar to 6 bar
which is sufficient to device a refrigeration system.
 The project proposes expansion of LPG in a VCR arrangement before
utilization as a regular domestic fuel i.e. the VCR system precedes the
stove in a domestic arrangement.
 Potential applications of this project include cold storage or storing
medical supplies and domestic food items.
 This project has the novelty of using LPG instead of electricity to drive
a refrigeration system.
CONSTRUCTION
 A box made of polystyrene sheets is used as the evaporator.
 The LPG cylinder is connected to a high pressure regulator, which is in
turn connected to high pressure pipes. At the other end, a pressure gauge
is attached.
 A capillary tube is used as the throttling device.
 The evaporator coil end, is connected to the stove by through another
high pressure pipe.

CONCLUSION
 LPG is an attractive and environmental friendly alternative to
regular VCR refrigerants.
 Working parameters of proposed system is very similar to
standalone refrigeration systems.
 Cooling capacities similar to VCR system with conventional
refrigerants can be obtained.
