CULTURE
 Orlando is known as "Hollywood East" because of the numerous

1990s.

HISTORY
■ For a long time this region where the city of Orlando is now located, was
inhabited by a tribe of Native Americans during the war, known by the name of
“Seminoles” (Indigenous groups of North America). Later in 1836, a soldier who
fought in the First Seminole War died during the battle and his body was buried
next to a tree, which had his name written on it. Years later, settlers who arrived
in the region began to attribute the name written on the tree to the place:
Orlando, as if that were the name of the region. That's where the name of one of
the most famous cities in the world came from. The Seminole Indians were
defeated and definitively expelled from the region. After that, the city started to
receive more inhabitants and to increase its expansion.
CLIMATE
■ Orlando has a temperate humid subtropical climate.
■ During the height of the summer wet season, Orlando reaches high temperatures that are
usually between 32 and 35 °C, while low temperatures rarely drop below 23 and 26 °C.
■ During the coldest season, humidity is much lower and temperatures are more
moderate, averaging around 15.2°C.
■ In addition, due to its subtropical climate there are often strong storms, which are often
highlighted by spectacular lightning and also by bringing rain and strong winds.
