GEOGRAPHICAL SKILLS

BY MUHAMMAD TAHA P1B1

GEOGRAPHICAL SKILLS

• Geography and maps are like good

friends they go everywhere together one
needs the other a map is a plane drawing
of a part on the earth surface. Maps are
particularly useful when you are
traveling around in an area dad you
don‘t know very well . A map helps us to
know the area where we or other person
live.
SYMBOLS

• A symbol is a mark, sign, or word that

indicates, signifies, or is understood as
representing an idea, object, or
relationship. Symbols allow people to
go beyond what is known or seen by
creating linkages between otherwise
very different concepts and
experiences.
COMPASS

• A compass is a device that shows the

cardinal directions used for navigation and
geographic orientation. It commonly
consists of a magnetized needle or other
element, such as a compass card or
compass rose, which can pivot to align
itself with magnetic north.
GRAPHS
• Graphs and maps can be used to show geographical information. Choosing the
correct method of data presentation is important. Knowing how to complete a
graph is an essential geographical skills.
• It is also known as:
• In discrete mathematics, and more specifically in graph theory, a graph
is a structure amounting to a set of objects in which some pairs of the
objects are in some sense "related". The objects correspond to
mathematical abstractions called vertices and each of the related pairs of
vertices is called an edge.
A PIE CHART

• A pie chart is a circular statistical graphic

which is divided into slices to illustrate
numerical proportion. In a pie chart, the
arc length of each slice is proportional to
the quantity it represents.
BAR GRAPH

• A bar chart or bar graph is a chart or graph that presents

categorical data with rectangular bars with heights or lengths
proportional to the values that they represent. The bars can be
plotted vertically or horizontally. A vertical bar chart is
sometimes called a column chart.
PICTOGRAPHS
• A pictograph uses picture symbols to illustrate statistical
information. It is often more difficult to visualize data
precisely with a pictograph. This is why pictographs
should be used carefully to avoid misrepresenting data
either accidentally or deliberately.
