HYDROPONICS METHOD

Hydroponics is a type of agriculture or gardening method that doesn’t use soil.

Instead, plants are grown in water-based mineral nutrient solutions that provide all the essential elements for
plant growth
12

 There are different types of hydroponic systems, such as wick system, deep water culture system, nutrient
film technique, ebb and flow system, drip system, and aeroponic system.
Each system has its own advantages and disadvantages depending on the type of plants, the space availabl
e, and the cost and maintenance involved

 Hydroponics has some benefits over traditional soil-based systems, such as:
• Saving water.
Hydroponics uses less water than soil-based systems because the water is recycled and reused in a closed
loop
12

• Saving space.
Hydroponics allows for higher plant density and vertical farming, which can increase the yield per unit ar
ea
12

• Saving time.
Hydroponics can reduce the time needed for plant growth and harvest because the plants receive optimal
conditions and nutrients at all times
12

• Reducing pests and diseases.
