Example of Prejudice in the American Media for POC
An example of prejudice is having negative attitude towards people who are “Different”. (Race)
● Prejudice towards Asian Americans because of the COVID 19 Pandemic.
● Prejudice towards Black people (The thug, and the angry black woman or man, lazy)
● Prejudice towards Hispanics (They don't want to learn english, )

These are all stereotypes that cause prejudice towards the people of color. Stereotypes like these
make it difficult for people of color to find jobs because someone doesn't like them just because
the way they look.

Things have gotten better over the years. However, there are still people in the world that still
have these prejudices.

2. How This Illustrates Prejudice in American Media

● By not allowing POC to get jobs

● By people unconsciously or consciously hating,
being disgusted by, pitying, and even envying
people of color
● By Crime
● By Illnesses
 3. My Opinion
In my opinion, I think things have gotten much better. I myself have not really been
put in positions where I have had instances of people putting prejudices towards me.
However, I hear about it all the time. Whether it is on the news or stories that you
have heard about other states. In my opinion, Massachusetts doesn't really have many
prejudice people. Though the probably exist. When you look around, you can see all
children and people getting along with each other. In this city alone you see such a
diverse group living together. (whether its in poverty areas or rich/ middle areas). I
think growing up in such a diverse community helps with the teachings on not to have
these prejudices. It makes me grateful that I grew up in an area where everyone looks
different. In other states, these situations still are happening and it is absolutely unfair.
We live in a nation where these prejudices should have ended years ago.
 3. How it negatively affects the Attitudes towards a particular
group
Even though America is known as such a great place ( the Land of Opportunities) it still impacts
the attitudes of POC. Causing Fear.

● Afraid that they might get attacked on the street.

● Afraid that a police may gun them down
● Afraid that they can't have the same privileges because of skin and ethnic background/ Job
opportunities
● Afraid that their children may get bullied in school.
● Afraid of being harassed in public

It makes it so that it can be really scary to someone who is immigrating from another country that
is a place where there are people of color.
