PREPOSITIONAL AND PARTICIPIAL PHRASES
A phrase is a group of words that combine transmits ideas (Even two
words can make a phrase).

• A new book Adjective phrase.


• Her old Friends Adjective phrase.

When a group of words starts with a preposition but ends


with a noun, it is called a prepositional phrase.
• My new book was on the floor
Preposition phrase.
PREPOSITIONAL AND PARTICIPIAL PHRASES
A Participial phrase contains a present (ing) or past participle at the
beginning.

• Gloria is waiting in the car


• Gloria is Blonde

In the Participial Phrase the verb works similar to an adjective


(describe the noun)
• There is Gloria, the blonde woman waiting in the car
