BURETTE

Grade 8 STE
GROUP 4
What is a Burette?

■ A Burette is a glass tube, similar to a graduated cylinder in that it is

graduated and designed to measure the volume of liquids.
■ A Burette is requires something to hold it upright, such as a burette
clamp, and also has spigot on the bottom of it.
What is the Burette used for?

■ Burette used to measure volume of liquids.

■ Used to eliver solutions in precisely-
measured, variable volumes.
■ Used primarily for titration, to deliver one
reactant until the precise end point of the
reaction is reached.
Parts of the Burette
A long graduated tube, often glass that is
marked with volume measurements. At
the bottom of the tube is a stopcock, or
valve, used to stop and start the flow of
liquid from the Burette. The small,
tapered end of the burette is the capillary
tube.
Volumetric Burette Piston Burette
A volumetric burette is a Instrument to allow
measuring glassware which is
used in analytical chemistry manual titration or
for the accurate dispensing of constant dosing of
a liquid, especially of one of reagents solvents.
the reagents in a titration.
