Introduction:AIR POLLUTION

• Air Pollution refers to the release of pollutants into the air,which


are detrimental and extremely toxic for human health and the
planet as a whole.As a result the air that we breathe in poisoned
and contaminated.
• Each year, air pollution causes 7 million deaths worldwide.
• There are many different air pollutants such as(ammonia,carbon
monoxide,sulfur dioxide,methane,carbon dioxide etc) that cause
air pollution.
• Air pollution is the world’s largest single environmental health
risk.

 CAUSES OF AIR POLLUTION
• The various causes of air pollution are as follows:
1. BURNING OF FOSSIL FUELS[Billions of vehicles run on roads are powered by gasoline
and diesel engines that burn petroleum for releasing energy.Sulfur dioxide emitted from the
combustion of fossil fuels like coal, petroleum is one the major cause of air pollution.]
2. AGRICULTURAL ACTIVITIES[Ammonia is a very common byproduct of agriculture
activities and is one of the most hazardous gases in the atmosphere.These emit harmful
chemicals into the air and can also cause water pollution.Farmers also burn the crops which
release toxins in the air as the crops burn.]
